7 Places to Celebrate National Ice Cream Month in The Woodlands!

We all scream for ice cream! July is National Ice Cream month (declared in 1984 by President Ronald Reagan), and the third Sunday of July (July 19, 2020) will be National Ice Cream Day. We sure hope you plan on celebrating! To be clear, there won't be any parades or special events going on in The Woodlands for this "holiday", but you can totally indulge on your own. Here are our 7 picks:

1. Your humble abode. Make ice cream in a bag at home. For 1 serving, you'll need the following ingredients: 1 cup half-and-half, 2 tbsp sugar, 1/2 tsp vanilla extract, 3 cups ice, 1/3 cup kosher salt or ice cream salt. Here's what to do:

(a) In a small resealable bag, combine half-and-half, sugar, and vanilla extract. Push out excess air and seal.
(b) In a large resealable bag, combine ice and salt.
(c) Place small bag inside the large bag and shake vigorously, 7 to 10 minutes, until ice cream has hardened. Your kiddos might want to wear oven mitts to protect their hands from the coldness!
(d) Remove ice cream from bag and enjoy with your favorite toppings.

Margaritaville on Lake Conroe Opens first Resort in Texas

Margaritaville Lake Resort is open! You might remember that it used to be La Toretta, and now it's the first Texas-based resort in the Margaritaville portfolio. Set on 186 waterfront acres on the shores of Lake Conroe, the resort brings an entirely unique lodging concept to the destination, providing guests authentic fun and escapism in a "no worries" atmosphere.

"It’s exciting to be the first resort to introduce the Margaritaville lifestyle to the Lone Star State, offering a quick, drivable escape from major cities like Houston, Dallas, Austin, and San Antonio,” said Lisa Fasbender, General Manager of Margaritaville Lake Resort, Lake Conroe | Houston. “We look forward to welcoming our guests and providing a safe haven to escape, unwind, and enjoy the laid-back lake life.”

Farmer's Market Reopens - No Kids or Pets Allowed!

Every Saturday, local residents would look forward to visiting The Woodlands Farmer's Market at Grogan's Mill, but like most other businesses in our area, the market closed for a while due to COVID-19. We're happy to report that the much-loved market will be implementing their Phase I reopening (food and produce vendors only) on Saturday, May 23. A Phase II date, when we can expect additional vendors and possible more relaxed rules, will be announced in the future. For now, please read and re-read these requirements for visiting the market. The goal is to keep vendors and customers as safe as possible:
