Alodia Basketball Academy expands basketball offerings with Magnolia partnership

The Magnolia Basketball Association “MBA” (magnoliabasketball.com) and Alodia Basketball Academy (alodiasports.com) are excited to announce their strategic partnership to provide year-round basketball youth leagues, skills training, and camps in the Magnolia community. The NEW MBA will be Magnolia Basketball-Alodia.

Spring Youth League and Skills Training (April and May) will be the first programs offered to the community. Registration for this program is available now and open to boys and girls grades 1-8. Grades 7-8 division is a new offering for the youth leagues in the Magnolia community.

The Woodlands Children’s Museum to Receive $10,000 Grant from the National Endowment for the Arts

The Woodlands Children’s Museum
is pleased to announce it has been approved by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) for a Challenge America award of $10,000. This grant will support arts programming through the Periwinkle Arts In Medicine program at Texas Children’s Cancer and Hematology Center at Texas Children’s Hospital.  In total, the NEA will award 257 Challenge America awards totaling $2,570,000 that were announced as part of its first round of fiscal year 2024 grants.

Celebrate the Year of the DRAGON on Saturday, February 3rd from 10:00am-2:00pm with interactive art projects and dynamic Lion Dance performances.

The museum will be transformed with colorful decorations for this interactive, energetic experience dedicated to enlightening children about Asian culture and traditions through fun activities that celebrate the Year of the Dragon. In the Asian culture, the dragon represents good luck, strength, and health that the museum has transferred into dragon, lantern and stamp art projects for children to make during the event.

"The Amazing Castle" New Exhibit Comes to The Woodlands Children’s Museum

The Woodlands Children’s Museum
brings to life more extraordinary hands-on adventures with the opening of The Amazing Castle. Visitors to The Amazing Castle are transported to a magical place and time—inside the castle’s stone walls lays a happy and peaceful little community where every citizen has a special job to do.

Children can don costumes and engage in role-play by becoming lords and ladies, castle villagers, or even “HiJinx the Jester.” Visitors can try their hands in the Royal Workshops with “Trim the Tailor” or “Gable the Carpenter.” After picking vegetables in the garden, kids can tote them to the Great Hall to cook up a royal meal or visit the tower to wake “Herald,” the sleeping dragon! The Amazing Castle is designed for visitors of all ages and will be at The Woodlands Children’s Museum through May 4, 2024.

Township Arbor Day event gives free tree seedlings to residents - January 27, 2024

The Woodlands’ annual Arbor Day Tree Giveaway is set for Saturday, January 27, 2024, from 9 a.m. to noon at Rob Fleming Park. The Woodlands celebrates its 48th year of giving away seedlings to residents, making it one of the longest-standing community traditions. 

Since 1977, more than 1.5 million seedlings have been distributed. This year’s event is produced by The Woodlands Township Environmental Services Department with support from Howard Hughes and Waste Management.
