Township community litter cleanup event registration is now open

The Woodlands Township is now registering volunteers for the 10th annual community-wide litter cleanup event, Earth Day GreenUp, on Saturday, March 20, 2021.

Help keep our community beautiful and enjoy the outdoors while bagging litter from streets, pathways and streams. Families, friends and neighbors are invited to join in a socially-distanced volunteer effort that targets litter on pathways, parks, waterways and green spaces.

Registration is available online at www.thewoodlandstownship-tx.gov/greenup through March 15, 2021. Walk-up registration is also welcome the morning of the event, starting at 8 a.m. A limited number of trash grabbers and vests will be available for loan to groups that pre-register. Those who pre-register will receive a T-shirt (while supplies last, sizes are limited). Check the website for a list of park check-in locations in each village.

Disposable gloves, trash bags, instructions and maps to cleanup sites will be provided at check-in. Participants are encouraged to bring reusable work gloves and a reusable water bottle to reduce waste. Supplies must be returned at your check-in site by 11 a.m.

The safety of volunteers, residents and staff is the highest priority. All event staff will wear face coverings. Participants are required to wear a face covering at the check-in location when picking up or returning supplies. Due to COVID safety concerns, the post-clean-up celebration at Northshore Park will not be held this year. It is also recommended that groups send just one person to pick up supplies at the check-in.

The Woodlands Earth Day GreenUp is coordinated by The Woodlands Township Environmental Services Department with support from Chevron Phillips, Waste Management, The Woodlands G.R.E.E.N., Howard Hughes Corporation and Woodlands Water.
