Have you seen the Little Live Pets "My Puppy's Home" toy? It's a WoodlandsMommy.com Editor's Pick for the 2023-2024 season, because it's one of the most innovative and magical toys we've seen in a long time. In a nutshell, your child will (very easily) assemble a sweet little dog house, choose a name for his/her new puppy, and once the kennel is complete, the puppy magically appears inside of it, giving a playful bark. I'm not joking. Your child will see the newly-built empty kennel, and then within minutes, there's the cutest surprise in the form of an adorable pet puppy right there!! The cute pet puppy appears with a toy bone in his mouth and making interactive puppy sounds. Let me just say that my 9-year-old and my 18-year-old daughters were equally impressed with this toy!

Here's how this part construction toy, part lovable new friend works:

1. Your child puts together the front, back, and side panels of the dog kennel and then adds the roof to create the perfect home for a new pet.

2. Your child pours cold water into the puppy's water bowl. Surpise! Cute little paw prints appear on the welcome mat. Looks like the puppy is on its way!

3. The final step is to create a name for the puppy, write the name on the name plate, and hammer the name plate to the front panel of the house.

4. Your child witnesses the magical arrival of his/her new pet! First, there's an immediate barking noise coming from inside the kennel. This was a surprise for even me as I worked alongside my daughter. Then, I encouraged my daughter to open the door to the kennel and, voila - a sweet little dog was right there waiting. The electronic puppy barks and whimpers, responding to your child's touch.

There is absollutely nothing about this toy that I don't like. The dog home / kennel is easy to build. The set includes oversized toy nails (pegs) and a toy hammer. Truthfully, you can insert the nails with your hand, but most kids like using tools, so the addition of the hammer is a nice touch. Also, seeing the paw prints appear on the door mat is a real surprise.

Of course, ti's all smoke and mirrors, so to speak. The puppy is actually hiding out in the roof of the house and is tethered in place until the very second that the last nail (the one for the sign on which  your child has written the puppy's name) is hammered in. At this point, the latch opens, and the puppy drops down into the kennel and barks. When your child opens the front door, there the puppy is, waiting to be picked up and loved.

The My Puppy's Home interactive plush toy puppy is cute with soft, blonde fur, big eyes and a bone toy in his mouth. Actually, there are a couple of puppies to discover, and you won't know which one you will get until the activity is complete. Will you get the puppy with brown or blonde fur? Blue or brown eyes? A red or green collar?

Either way, your child can repeat the fun of building and the surprise arrival again and again! The included instructions tells you how to easily reset the puppy into the roof and close the latch, and your puppy is ready to "magically" arrive again for your daughter or any friends who are visiting.
