Editor’s Review –Tie Dye Socks Kit - "Creative, Easy, Fun!"

tie dye socks2
This was our first time tie-dyeing socks, and they came out so cute that I wanted to share our experience with you. If you’re intimidated at the thought of dyeing t-shirts, or maybe you need a project for the kids that will take less time and is easier to manage, consider purchasing the Tulip Slumber Party Crazy Socks Kit (affiliate link). I purchased this kit over a year ago, and we finally decided to pull it out and bring our creations to life. It turned out to be the perfect creative thing to do to fill some spare moments at home on a Saturday afternoon. (We dyed t-shirts too, and my kids are serious about their tie dye, so all-in-all – t-shirts and socks – we spent 45 minutes on  the "dyeing" part of this project. If you're just doing socks, I estimate it'll take 10-15 minutes or less).

The Tulip Slumber Party Crazy Socks Kit comes with 5 vibrant colors, but since we were also dying shirts and had kits for those as well, we had plenty additional colors to use.

The kit comes with 4 pairs of socks, dye powder in squeeze bottles, gloves to protect your hands, rubber bands, and an instruction guide. All you’ll need to do is add water to the dye bottles when you’re ready to get started, and have a table covering or something to protect your work surface.

The pairs of socks each have 4 unique designs: cat faces, mermaid scales, doggy paws, and unicorns.

Here’s what I loved the most about this product:

  • The design part of the fabric is treated, so when you’re dyeing the socks, the fabric magically does not soak in where the designs are located, leaving the white designs (cat faces, mermaid scales, etc.) visible.
  • Rubber bands are not necessary. They’re included, but you can make beautifully designed socks without tying them. Easy peasy.
  • They’re an all-in-one solution. Usually, I purchase tie dye kits and then have to purchase T-shirts separately. This kit includes the dye and the socks, which made life easy (and affordable) for me!

The socks are durable and comfortable to wear, and they are adult size (so only slightly big for my 9-year-old, but it didn’t bother her at all.)

I think this project would be a great activity for the beginning of a slumber party. After 6-8 hours, you can rinse the socks in the sink then throw them in the wash and they’ll be ready to wear after the dryer.
