I often hear friends say that there' is just no point in taking little kids to theme parks - that it's a waste of money and preschoolers are so young they won't remember a thing. When researching for our Disney trip last year, one phrase stuck out to me - take trips while your kids are young for the memories you'll have of your children, not necessarily the memories they'll have of the experience. Using that mantra as my guide, I'm here to tell you it is never too early to take your youngest kids to a theme park! We found Six Flags Fiesta Texas more than accommodating for our family of two 3 year olds and one 5 year old, and during this most magical time of the year, Holiday in the Park at Six Flags Fiesta Texas is filled with enchanting experiences that will help capture the holiday spirit.
After entering the park, my husband and older son made a b-line for Road Runner Express, one of the more thrilling coasters that my son was tall enough for. I walked my 3 year olds over to Kidzopolis where they easily spent hours on rides that were perfectly pint-size for preschoolers. There are five rides in this area and the lines were easy-breezy! A pirate ship splash pad was dry for the winter which made for fun line-free exploring. My older son was a little shaken by the first coaster he rode on and I saw his smile quickly return at Kidzopolis and the nearby bumper cars.
A few of the preschooler-sized rides in other areas of the park were out of order but our kids were none the wiser. Family rides can be found in almost every section of the park. Lines moved swiftly with the exception of SCOOBY-DOO Ghostblasters The Mystery of the Haunted Mansion. The long queue for this ride was primarily in a dark room which freaked my daughter out a bit. This ride was similar to Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin at Walt Disney World (which is one of my kids' favorites) - your vehicle stays on a track while you use blasters to shoot at targets.
My husband and I traded out watching the kids so that we could both ride a few of the thrill rides. I had a chance to ride BATMAN: The Ride and SUPERMAN KRYPTON Coaster and both were outrageous! Gravity defying! My husband's favorite was The Iron Rattler. The lines were speedy and everything was pretty close together. We can't wait for the Wonder Woman Golden Lasso coaster to open in 2018! I can totally see Six Flags Fiesta Texas as a fun couples getaway without kids AND it's super close to the popular Hyatt Hill Country property.
If your kids love DC Comics' superheroes, there is no escaping the many capes and plush heroes all over the park, but unfortunately there are no superhero themed rides for younger kids. My kids did like checking out a real Batmobile, which is in the queue at BATMAN: The Ride. I was also a bit disappointed that there didn't seem to be any character experiences with the superheroes, like meet-and-greets, as I'm sure my kids would have loved to have met them. Six Flags Fiesta Texas has instead focused on Looney Tunes for their smallest guests with themed rides and shows like "Have Yourself A Looney Tunes Christmas."
The Holiday in the Park experience transforms Six Flags Fiesta Texas into a winter wonderland where you can mingle with seasonal characters, take a photo in front of the giant Christmas tree, see real reindeer, make s'mores over a roasting pit, take a ride down a snow hill, ring in holiday cheer with sing-a-longs and spirited holiday shows and enjoy special holiday foods (Christmas inspired funnel cakes, anyone?). Holiday in the Park is open select days through January 7, 2018 at Six Flags Fiesta Texas. Check the schedule ahead of time as some days have opening times of mid-afternoon.
