City Place Tree Lighting and Giant Gingerbread Village Unveiling - Nov. 26

A busy season of holiday programming kicks off at north Houston’s City Place from 4pm - 8pm on Sunday, November 26, with the annual tree lighting celebration, which culminates in a countdown to illuminate the shimmering – and floating – 35-foot Christmas landmark rising from City Place Park’s main pond.

The evening also marks the unveiling of City Place’s signature, Giant Gingerbread Village, where a gumdrop, lollipop and candy-cane-lined path – guarded by two giant gingerbread men – leads to a raised clearing featuring cookie trees, a 16-foot-high gingerbread house and 12-foot windmill. Newly refreshed, the complimentary, Insta-worthy attraction was designed by the same creative team responsible for Houston’s Seismique interactive art museum.

Five new installations will also make their debut around the urban core. Designed by Houston-based artist Anat Ronen, the larger-than-life creations will offer a whimsical take on nostalgic holiday elements, ranging from giant elves and candy canes to snowmen and ornaments.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will attend the festivities for an opportunity to capture family photos, and guests can enjoy a holiday market with over 30 curated vendors, free kid creative stations and a live choir.

All holiday décor will be on display and viewable free of charge through January 8.

Event is open to the public and free to attend. City Place Plaza is located at 1250 Lake Plaza Drive in Spring, TX.
