It's the MOST wonderful time of the year! Texas Academy of Dance Arts presents The Nutcracker, a beautiful Christmas classic filled with fairytale, surprise, and a dash of humor.
The Nutcracker is a stunning, storytelling ballet centered on the E.T.A. Hoffmann original 1816 writing about a young girl named Clara who receives a wooden Nutcracker that comes to life as a prince on Christmas Eve. The adventure unfolds with an array of magical creatures including the Mouse Queen, Snow Queen, and of course the Sugar Plum Fairy as Clara is transported in a beautiful winter sleigh through the Land of Snow to her golden throne in the Land of Sweets.
"TADA's Nutcracker truly embodies the magic of the holidays with wonder, joy, and laughter. Our Nutcracker brings the love of ballet to dancers of all ages and levels while providing a truly dreamy experience for our audiences," says TADA's Ballet Director Amy Leonards.
The performance features TADA's Youth Ballet Company, a talented cast of pre-professional ballet dancers ranging in age from 7-18, along with guest artists and members of the studio's wider ballet program.
Director of the YBC Elizabeth Troxler says "TADA's Nutcracker shows so much heart as each young dancer helps to weave the story. Every dancer is learning about how their role is vital to the full production! You will see the timeless story come to life in new ways!"
Indeed, from the littlest mouse to the Sugarplum Fairy, each dancer has been studying and rehearsing his or her part with enthusiasm, hoping to make this year's 9th annual Nutcracker one of the best yet. "The studio buzzes with excitement every weekend with rehearsals, costume and stage preparations, and lots of help from our amazing Nutcracker families," says Jessica Norwood, TADA's Executive Director. "We are so very proud of the talent that will be showcased on stage this year."
