Reading readiness is important because it lays the foundation for a child’s future success in school. By preparing your child for kindergarten, you are giving them a head start by helping them develop the skills necessary for successful literacy development. This includes letter recognition and phonemic awareness (knowing sounds), print concepts (understanding book orientation), vocabulary, and comprehension skills.
Primary Literacy Academy of The Woodlands located at 26315 Oak Ridge Dr is an Early Childhood education center that has a mission to give children a head start on reading. The preschool uses a researched-based curriculum that enhances children’s social and emotional skills, while building literacy skills that increase success in elementary school.
Primary Literacy Academy of The Woodlands uses The Teaching Strategies Creative Curriculum, one that incorporates language, literacy, social–emotional learning, math, science, social studies, and the arts into each day of instruction with study topics that engage and spark children’s natural curiosity.

- Engaging book studies for all ages. Engaging young children with stories and read alouds can also foster their emotional development by helping them better understand feelings such as fear and sadness through characters' experiences in books.

- Introduction to basic concepts such as counting, shapes and colors through age-appropriate activities like puzzles or art projects. These activities help stimulate creative thinking while developing problem-solving skills as well as concentration levels.
