Did you know that only 49.9% of Conroe ISD students entered Kindergarten for the 2021-2022 school year, ready for kindergarten?*

Reading readiness is important because it lays the foundation for a child’s future success in school. By preparing your child for kindergarten, you are giving them a head start by helping them develop the skills necessary for successful literacy development. This includes letter recognition and phonemic awareness (knowing sounds), print concepts (understanding book orientation), vocabulary, and comprehension skills.

  • Introduction to basic concepts such as counting, shapes and colors through age-appropriate activities like puzzles or art projects. These activities help stimulate creative thinking while developing problem-solving skills as well as concentration levels.
  • Rhyming games, letter matching games (like Bingo and memory), writing simple stories together, and practicing counting objects.
  • Music class- Music education has many benefits for young children. It can help children with language development, motor skills, communication, and socialization. Studies have shown that musical activities have a positive effect on brain development in young children and can even increase IQ scores.
  • Soccer Shots- Building active, strong gross motor skills sets the foundation for essential learning in early childhood education.
  • Coming soon- Yoga class - Yoga teaches a child how to take a moment to his or herself and breathe. It promotes mental clarity.
  • Coming Soon – Spanish classes - Spanish increases children's understanding of the English language and how different languages evolve, which can also help with learning English vocabulary.
