Introducing: Newton Know-How! Exhibit at Children's Museum of Houston

newton
Whether a rocket scientist or a dancer, we are all governed by Newton’s laws of motion.  Thanks to Children’s Museum Houston, you can now engage in fun, interactive activities which will help you understand the physics associated with them.

Come step into a world alive with action as you delve into force, friction, momentum, gravity, and speed in the new Newton Know-How! exhibit. Throughout the exhibit, you can explore different kinds of motion – speeding up and slowing down; falling and bouncing; spinning and sliding, and much more!

All components in Newton Know-How! are hands-on and built for open-ended explorations of physics.  Experiences include:

  • Try to get a disc to spin on its edge at the Turn Table.
  • Try to knock down a wall at Build to Last.
  • Bounce a ball into a hole on Ricochet.
  • Test methods to get golf ball trains through the Golf Ball Roller Coaster.
  • Spin a golf ball down a giant funnel that models a Gravity Well.
  • Build a domino pattern and watch them fall in a chain reaction on a Domino Table.
  • Use angular momentum to defy gravity at Top Spinning.

Be a part of the exhibit’s Grand Opening at 10:30 a.m. on May 12, as Isaac Newton reenacts his “aha moment” – as legend has it, the moment he was bonked on the head by a falling apple which prompted him to come up with the law of gravity.  Except this apple is 5-feet tall!!!

Children’s Museum of Houston is open Tuesdays – Saturdays, 10am – 6pm. General Museum admission is $15 per person, $14 for seniors 65+,  and $13 for active-duty military personnel.  Children under one and Museum Members receive free admission.
