Inspired by my daughter's recent birthday tea party, I’m planning a sweet and simple Mother’s Day Tea at home, and it’s something any mom can do with the kids!
You don’t need a full set of matching dishes to make it special. In fact, a mix of tea cups, saucers, and serving pieces (like the ones we found at Home Goods) makes it even more charming. Let the kids help create a beautiful tablescape with fresh flowers, candles, and even some soft background music (we did piano for the birthday, but I’m thinking jazz for Mother’s Day).
Now I’m going to be honest; I was still hungry after my daughter’s party. Those tiny treats are cute, but for Mother’s Day, I’m needing a more substantial menu, even if it’s not exactly traditional. Think pulled pork sliders alongside the cucumber sandwiches. Why not?
Encourage the kids and hubby to help plan the menu or surprise you with it! Try bite-sized treats like scones, petit fours, fruit, finger sandwiches in fun shapes, and cookies. For a little something extra, swing by Trader Joe’s or MunchMunch Mochi—and don't sleep on the macarons from HEB in Market Street (they're delicious and budget-friendly!).
Set the mood for meaningful connection with conversation cards if you're worried about keeping the chatter going. And of course, don’t forget to sip and sample a few different teas (and maybe something bubbly for the grownups too!).
Make it beautiful and fun! And most of all, make it yours.
