Have a look at The Woodlands Christian Academy!

It feels like home.

I genuinely expected it to feel like many things, but not home. The Woodlands Christian Academy – an independent, Christ-centered college preparatory school for grades K-12 in The Woodlands - is warm and vibrant and unpretentious and, just… in a word… lovely.

That energy I feel on campus. How would I describe it? On a beautiful day, “The Grove” serves as a secure space for eager students to congregate at picnic tables with friends or to leaf through a textbook. Younger ones revel in the school’s expansive, open playground that’s worthy of its own park. Strong athletics. Performing & fine arts. Mission projects. Class trips and retreats. Author visits. Nutritious, chef-prepared meals.

Ah, I’ve got it! To me, it feels like a small liberal arts college, one where students are enriched daily and  know their purpose. One where there’s a strong community of supporting adults who are devoted to the success and development of the students and the school as a whole.

Student Life at The Woodlands Christian Academy (TWCA) is fun and full of excitement, and there’s always something going on. During a typical year, students and families experience food trucks on campus, Warrior Cookers (dads serving up BBQ), parent galas, special mother/son and father/daughter events, graduations, parades, and many other special activities and events that invest in the students’ minds, bodies, and souls.

As its mission, The Woodlands Christian Academy “integrates learning with Biblical faith and spiritual growth, and challenges students to reach their highest potential – intellectually, creatively, physically and socially - for the glory of Jesus Christ.”

Amanda French, Director of Enrollment, couldn’t say enough about the dedication of TWCA staff. Instructors get to use their creativity to give students a dynamic learning experience where they learn how to think, instead of what to think, equipping them for success beyond the classroom. .  “God called everyone to the right places,” French asserts.

TWCA’s rigorous college-preparatory academics include honors and Advanced Placement classes.

I was wondering what the school is doing to prioritize the safety of students and staff during the pandemic, and I was pleased to learn that even before the pandemic TWCA was already ideally situated to handle such a crisis, with smaller than average class sizes, sanitizing stations throughout the buildings, and thorough cleaning practices.

kinder buddiesSince COVID, protective methods have been even further developed. Children often move about in cohorts – interacting and taking classes with the same peers to limit any exposure. At the time of this editorial, students wear masks and are afforded sufficient mask-wearing breaks throughout the day. Hand-washing stations and water stations are touch-free, and the number of sanitizing stations on campus have increased by 60%. Lunch breaks are often taken outdoors, weather permitting. The school even utilizes a state-of-the-art disinfecting cleaning system that rids it of germs for weeks at a time.
