Large Family Gift-Giving

Do you find yourself spending way more money than you want to spend on Christmas gifts for the “larger” families in your life? I always overspend my budget when shopping for my sisters and their families, because they all have multiple kiddos, plus I like to get presents for the grown-ups too. This year, I’m going with (1) family “have fun” baskets, (2) family memberships, and (3) restaurant gift cards, gifts that everyone will dig. I look forward to saving money on individual gifts.

“Have Fun” baskets
A package of goodies for the favorite family in your life could work out perfectly for a family with multiple kiddos of varying ages. Pack a basket with assorted candy and snacks, and fun games and activities such as Uno cards, Checkers, Play Dough, a jump rope, and more. Be sure to include some grown-up friendly goodies (Starbucks coffee drinks or packaged nuts).

Family Memberships
Family memberships help to create great experiences for your recipient family. WoodlandsMommy.com recommends choosing a membership from one of our favorite places – The Woodlands Children’s Museum, Children’s Museum of Houston, the Houston Zoo, or The Health Museum. All four of these attractions are super for families and well worth multiple trips throughout the year. For recipient families in other areas, choose a museum / attraction local to them.

Restaurant Gift Cards
Gift cards can be lame, but not if they’re for something extraordinary! Consider giving a family restaurant gift card or a Groupon certificate to a diner that’s all about making memories: Rainforest Café, Fogo de Chao, Sakekawa (for a hibachi grill experience), and there are so many others. Be sure to include enough on the gift certificate to cover dessert for the kiddos!
