I'm bringing home a baby bumblebee,
Won't my mommy be so proud of me,
(Cup hands together as if holding bee)

Buzzing Around the Room

A bee is buzzing round the room,
Buzz buzz, buzz buzz.
A bee is buzzing round the room,

He'll buzz around the room once more,
And then he'll buzz right out the door.
And we'll all be glad when
He is gone once more.


Here is the Beehive
Here is the beehive. Where are the
bees?
(hold up fist)
Hidden away where nobody sees.
(move other hand around fist)
Watch and you’ll see them come out of
the hive
(bend head close to fist)
One, two, three, four, five.
(hold fingers up one at a time)
Bzzzzzzzz… all fly away!
(wave fingers)

Buzzy Bee
Communications can be fun
when they are silly. While
holding your baby on your lap,
move your fingers around in the
air and make a buzzing sound.
Make the buzzy bee land on your
baby's tummy with a tickle.
Repeat for as long as your baby
is interested.

Catch the Bee
Tie a piece of yarn to a ruler or a
pencil, and hook a "fake bee" to
the other end of the yarn (the
fake bee can be a bit of  tissue,
orange construction paper,
etc.). Hold up the pencil so that
the bee hovers around your
child's head/face. Make the
buzzing sound, increasing the
volume when the bee gets
closer to your child's ears. Invite
your child to swat at or catch the
bee.

Give Your Baby The
Floor
Floor time gives your
baby a chance to
develop and practice
new skills such as
rolling over, getting on
his hands and knees,
and sitting up. Make
sure that the floor or
ground is soft enough
so that he won't hurt
himself when he plops
down face first. Putting
your baby down on a
quilt or a thick blanket
can soften a hard floor
or tightly packed earth.

As your baby continues
to grow and develop, he
will become
increasingly curious
about the world in
which he lives. By the
age of 8 -12 months,
babies are crawling,
walking and generally
more independent of
mom and dad.

Baby board books created
out of sturdy cardboard with
themes related to animals,
trucks, toys and people.

Plastic toy versions of
household items such as
key rings or phones.

Sturdy toys made out of
cloth like dolls, animals
and even cars.

Pop-up boxes and other
cause and effect toys.

Containers to fill and empty.

Stackable toys like blocks
in larger sizes.

Bath toys for indoor water
play.

Push-pull toys like walking
animals or plastic ball
poppers.

Face to Face Interaction:

Babies are fascinated with
faces and voices, and your
first communications are
through the sounds you make
and the nearness of your face.
It doesn't matter what you say,
as long as you are up close
and personal, so chatter away.·         Take your baby's hand
and run it gently over
your mouth, hair, eyes,
and nose, talking
about what you are
doing.·         Repeat, using your
hand on your baby's
face.·         Watch carefully and
repeat any sounds the
baby makes,
responding
enthusiastically with
your attention, smiles,
and laughter.·         Bounce the baby to the
rhythm of your words,
particularly as you
repeat phrases and
sounds.·         Use nursery rhymes
as you play.
