Pig Facts
Teach your toddler a few facts about
pigs. They're usually pink in color, they
make the noise "oink, oink", they have
noses called snouts and short tails.

Piggy Bank
Use this week as an opportunity for
your child to save money. If he has a
piggy bank, he will enjoy dropping the
coins in and learning what a quarter,
penny, dime, and nickel looks like.

Pig Face
Cut out this template to make a
pig mask. You'll need paper and a
printer (colored card-stock works very
well), markers or crayons, scissors, a
stapler, and elastic - about 1 foot per
mask.

1. Color the mask.
2. Cut it out around the edges and cut
out the eye-holes
4. Staple one end of the elastic onto
the mask (the places for the staples
are marked and are by the eyes).
5. Determine how much elastic it will
take to fit on your child's head. Trim to
size.
6. Staple the remaining side of the
elastic to the other side of the mask.

Pretend Play
Let your child play with pink Play
Dough and have fun making clay pigs
that oink and squeal.

Pig Puppet
Help your child make this Pig Paper
Bag Puppet.

This Little Pig
(Hold up a finger for each pig, starting with
the thumb.)
This little pig went to the market.
This little pig stayed home.
This little pig had roast beef.
This little pig had none.
And this little pig went
Wee, wee, wee, wee, all the way home.

To The Woods
Let us go to the woods, said this little pig
(hold up thumb)
What to do there? Says that little pig (hold
up first finger)
To look for my mother, said this little pig
(hold up tall finger)
What to do with her? Says that little pig
(hold up ring finger)
Give her a kiss, says this little pig (hold up
little finger, then give your toddler a kiss!)

This Little Piggy
(Act out according to words)
This little piggy can wiggle its ears,
Wiggle its nose,
And wiggle its toes.
This little piggy can jump up and down,
turn around,
And touch the ground.
This little piggy can grunt when it's sad,
Squeal when its mad,
And oink when it's glad.
This little piggy can eat very fast,
Splish and splash,
Then sleep in the grass.

To Market, To Market
To market, to market to buy a fat pig,
Home again, home again, jiggety jig.
To market, to market to buy a fat hog,
Home again, home again, jiggety jog.
To market, to market, to buy a plum bun
Home again, home again, market is done.

Ten Pigs
(Use your fingers and thumbs to act out the
rhyme.)
Two mother pigs lived in a pen,
Each had four babies, and that made ten.
These four babies were back as night,
These four babies were back and white.
But all eight babies loved to play
And they rolled and rolled in the mud all day.
At night, with their mother, they curled up in
a heap
And squealed and squealed till they went to
sleep.
