Door Count
Go through the house and count
all the doors you find, placing a
sticker on each one as you count.
Later on, instruct your child to
remove any stickers he sees on
the doors throughout the day.

Our House
Go through the house and teach
your child the names of each
room. Use sentences such as
“This is mommy and daddy’s
bedroom.” “This is the bathroom.”
“This is the living room.” Talk
about the main items you see in
each room and the activities that
take place. Help your child identify
a dresser, mirror, desk, bookcase,
sofa, and an oven.

Room Treasure Hunt
Put a distinct item (such as a
different piece of fruit) on the floor
in each room. Tell your toddler
what’s in each room and ask him
to go find it. “There’s an apple in
the kitchen. Let’s go to the kitchen
to find the apple.” Or “There’s a
teddy bear in the bathroom. Let’s
go to the bathroom to find the
teddy bear,” and so on. Allow him
to lead you to each room to find
each item.

Bear House
Build a house using a large
cardboard box. Cut out a door and
a window and hang curtains (a
pillowcase), use a shoebox as a
bed for your child’s stuffed animal
to sleep in. Be as creative as you
want, enlisting your child for help
adding contents to the house.


Knock Knock
Play the Knock Knock game with
your child with you on the inside of
a room and him on the outside.
“Knock Knock.
“Who is it?”
“(child's name)”
“OH ___, come in, I’m so happy to
see you!”


Practice ringing the doorbell to
your home for some musical fun.

(pretend to swing hammer, slow)
