Identification
Pull out clothing articles from your
child's closet and drawers and name
the different types of clothing with your
child - pants, dress, shoes, boots, hat,
scarf, belt, socks, pajamas, etc. Then
name the various clothing attachments
-  buttons, zipper, pocket, etc. Don't
forget to name the colors of the objects.

Big and Little
Show your child how to distinguish
between Big and Little by comparing
her shirts, shoes, and socks,  to
mommy's and daddy's. You can also
use this activity to compare Big and
Little hands and feet.

Dress-Up
Play dress-up with hats and scarves
and take snapshots and/or let your
child enjoy his new look(s) in front of a
mirror.

Shoe Mates
Make a large pile of shoes (include
some of yours and some of your child's
shoes) and allow him to find the
matching pairs.

After you have dressed your child,
use this song (sung to the tune
"Mary Had a Little Lamb) to name
all the items your child has on.
(Child's name) wore her red dress,
Red dress, red dress,
(Child's name) wore her red dress
All day long.
(Repeat, naming each item your child is
wearing.

Getting Dressed
(To the tune of "This is the way we...")
This is the way that we get dressed,
we get dressed, we get dressed
This is the way that we dressed,
so early in the morning!
This is the way we put on our shirt,
put on our shirt, put on our shirt
This is the way we put on our shirt,
so early in the morning!

Repeat, changing "shirt" to any piece of
clothing. Pretend to put on each article of
clothing as you sing.

Cobbler, Cobbler
Cobbler, cobbler, mend my shoe,
Get it done by half past two.
Stitch it up, and stitch it down,
Then I’ll give you half a crown.
Cobbler, cobbler, mend my shoe,
Get it done by half past two.
‘Cuz my shoe is peeping through,
Cobbler, cobbler, mend my shoe.

My Hat
My hat, it has three corners…
Three corners has my hat.
And had it not three corners,
It would not be my hat!

Silly Hat Song
(Sing to tune of This Old Man)
On my head, I wear my hat.
It is such a silly hat
That my head will wiggle waggle to and fro
Where else can my silly hat go?
(Repeat using foot, elbow, knee, etc.)

Give your child choices when you
get him dressed this week.
Ex: Do you want to wear your blue
shirt with stripes or your white
shirt with butterflies?

Mommy's Helper: Ask your child to
help you decide what to wear.
Bring him to your closet and allow
him to choose a shirt and some
pants for you to put on - even if
you just  wear it around the house.
