Read the book "Green Eggs and
Ham" to your child.

Lucky Charms Count & Sort
Lucky Charms cereal are a great snack
for this theme week. Give your child a
bowl of Lucky Charms and let him pick
out the marshmallows and sort them
into piles (stars, rainbows, etc.), them
count each pile.


Magic Treasure Box
Decorate an empty shoe box or tissue
box with paint, stickers, glitter glue,
colorful cotton balls, etc. (If you want,
you can cover the box with brown
construction or wrapping paper first
for a clear canvas. Hide the box and
explain to your child that the
leprechaun will come and fill the box
with a treasure. Keep checking the box
with your child throughout the

day in hopes of finding a treasure. The
box will remain empty until near the end
of the day (or after nap time), when
you check the box, there should be
candy or treats in the box (fill box with
a treasure when your child is not
looking).

Green Treasure Hunt
Hunt for and collect items in your house
that are green. Be sure to look in
closets, drawers, bookcases, the
refrigerator, and other fun places!


Lucky Coins
Scatter gold chocolate coins
throughout the house (or a room in
your house)  and have fun searching
for the "luck" left by the leprechauns.
Be sure to count the coins ahead of
time and find all the coins that you hid
(to prevent your child finding them on
his own when unsupervised).


Handprint Wreath
Materials:  glue, scissors, and green
colors of  paint or construction paper.  
There are two ways to do this craft.
One is to trace the child's hand onto
paper and cut out the prints. The
second is to make paint hand prints on
the paper and cut those out.   Make six
to nine hand prints.  Cut out the prints
and glue side-by-side in a circular
pattern to form a wreath. Help your
child decorate the wreath with glitter.

NOTE: Cut 5 construction paper shamrocks
and place a number 1-5 on the shamrocks
for math count.)

Five green shamrocks growing outdoors

Four little shamrocks, green as they can be.
(Child's name) picked one and that left three.
Three little shamrocks playing peek-a-boo
(Child's name) picked one and that left two.
Two little shamrocks nodding in the sun,
(Child's name) picked one, and that left one.
One little shamrock for St. Patrick's Day fun.
(Child's name) picked it, and that left none.


This Little Leprechaun
This little leprechaun slid down the
rainbow, (Point to thumb.)
This little leprechaun stayed home. (Point to
index finger.)
This little leprechaun picked a shamrock,
(Point to middle finger.)
This little leprechaun found some gold.
(Point to ring finger.)
This little leprechaun cried, "See if you can
catch me," (Point to little finger.)
As he ran all the way home. (Wiggle little

(Pull on tops of ears.)
