Find pictures of kings, queens,
and castles  in books and
magazines and point out each to
your child. Explain that a castle is a
huge, fancy building  where a king
or queen lives. A crown is a fancy
hat worn by kings and queens.

Speak Royalty
Speak to your child using a funny
accent and encourage him to
follow suit.

Movie Time
If your child likes cartoon movies,
watch Shrek II, or parts of it, and
talk about the king, queen, and
castle.

Create a Crown
On one long edge of a cardboard
strip (3" x 20") cut a zigzag edge to
make points like a crown. Measure
the strip around your child’s head,
allowing enough room for it to
overlap slightly. Cut off any extra
cardboard. Lay the strip flat and let
your child decorate his crown with
any jewels, beads, and glitter that
you have available. When the glue
has dried, staple the ends of the
cardboard together to form a
crown.

Royalty Dress-Up
Let your toddler dress up in fancy
clothes - a shiny silk or satin shirt
of mommy's or daddy's. Use the
crown you made (above).

Build a pretend castle with
building blocks (such as LEGO
blocks) or play dough.
